The year 2022 is pretty much when Corona Virus 19-related restrictions finally eased up for large-scale public events, and the Furry “fandom” has been no exception. Most of the big cons had been closed for two years, some shut down for good, and many were optimistic when most of these conventions announced their first physical gatherings in three years.
We’re only in May and there have been multiple disasters from these conventions opening up again; two of these disasters, I would surmise, rival the infamous Rainfurrest in their level of destruction.
The first of these was Motor City Fur Con, where attendees retired to the Ann Arbor Ypsilanti Marriott at Eagle Crest. According to complaints received by the con from the hotel, attendees left shit in the bed, puke in the public bathrooms, and one instance of public sex in the lobby. MCFC, like a typical furry convention, seems to have zero interest in banning these people, much less even knowing who they are.
Furry Weekend Atlanta a month later took it even further. For FWA there were reports of drinks being drugged in the hotel parties, the ambulance was called at least once toward the end of the con, and most of all, someone ripped out the consul at one of the elevators. Like MCFC before it, Furry Weekend Atlanta has not announced that anyone was banned. Unlike MCFC, Furry Weekend Atlanta didn’t even give a press release on the events.
I wrote in more detail about both events on my DissidentFurs.com site, which covers “furry drama” news that I have in the past kept off my author blog. Check it out if you’re interested.

Also, I am still working on the manuscript for my “prequel” story. More on that later. The manuscript is 75% done, but I have learned in the past that making a story publication-worthy is much more than just spitting out a manuscript.
